Don Giovanni

This is a conceptual opera collaborate with the director Elaine Kidd. We built it in 1960s Chelsea, London. Drawing inspiration from the 1950s–1970s Peacock Revolution and the 1960s–1970s Sexual Revolution, I designed the costumes accordingly.

After analyzing the relationships between the characters, I defined Don Giovanni as a dandy—a man of flamboyant taste and self-indulgent style. I envisioned him wearing bright, ostentatious clothing, which led me to draw inspiration from the Peacock Revolution.

At the same time, the Sexual Revolution was also taking place, which aligned perfectly with my interpretation of Don Giovanni. I imagined him as a “fanatic” and even a (negatively portrayed) “leader” of the movement, embodying its extremes.
